PC Mel Pemberton - City Beat Manager

PC Mel Pemberton - City Beat Manager

I joined Chester Inner NPT as the City Centre Beat Manager in April 2009, having previously worked on the Targeted Patrol Unit in Ellesmere Port and Chester.

I started my career with Cheshire constabulary in January 2007 and my first role was as a response driver in Chester and Ellesmere Port. This gave me a good understanding of policing. I was very much drawn to community policing as this is where I see my strengths. I look forward to building relationships with the community and to be pro-active in tackling crime.

Prior to joining the police I worked within HR in the private sector. Much of my home life is taken up by my children and their interests, however I do enjoy hill walking and travelling.

I have worked in Chester covering the City Centre as a Police Community Support Officer since 2007. Before being employed as a PCSO, I was a full-time student at University of Chester studying BSc Sports Science and Health Sciences. My hobbies include walking my dog, playing as much football as possible, golf and most recently boxing. I also support Liverpool FC. I joined Cheshire Police in October 2009 and have been lucky enough to be placed in the Chester Inner team.

Prior to that I worked for five years as a department store security guard in Chester city centre. In that role, I worked alongside the Chester Inner police officers, PCSOs and other partner agencies to engage in problems affecting retailers in the city.

I now have the opportunity to tackle the issues that I recognised whilst working in the city and also tackle issues that I wasn't aware of, such as anti-social behaviour in the Grosvenor Park.

Outside of work I spend a lot of time going for walks and runs with my dog, Win, and also training in the gym. I love watching TV and films, and also reading about people and places. I am currently reading up on Chester City.
